April

 Jobs to do in April...

  • Plant onion sets and potatoes.

  • Sow kitchen herbs

  • Sow lettuce in rows and other types of salad either in rows or scattered but give frost protection.

  • Plant out lettuce and vegetable seedlings.

  • Continue to protect plants at night with a fleece covering.

  • Turn over autumn compost.  Half rotted compost can be used for mulching, use well rotted material for planting in tubs and beds provided it contains no weed seeds.
